Who we are

Roomwise is an iPhone app that measures rooms and works out the materials a home project needs. It is run by Threshold AI LLC (“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy: [email protected].

Scanning your room

Scanning uses your iPhone's camera and LiDAR sensor through Apple's RoomPlan technology. The scan is processed on your phone. Camera images are not saved or uploaded. The 3D model of the room is saved on your phone only, and is deleted when you delete the room or the app.

Without an account

Rooms, measurements and shopping lists are stored only on your phone. We don't receive them.

With an account

An account is optional. It backs up your rooms and keeps them in sync across your devices. When you create one we store:

• Your email address and password. The password is stored only in hashed form, so we can't read it.
• If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook instead of a password, we receive your email address (with Apple, you can choose a private relay address) and an id for your account with that service. We don't receive your password for that service, your contacts or your posts, and we never post anything for you.
• Your consent choices and when you made them.

Before anything else is uploaded, the app asks you to agree. If you do, we also store:

• Room names, room types and measurements (areas, lengths, and the sizes of walls, doors and windows).
• The homes you add: their names, and an address and photo of the house only if you add them. Only you can see them.
• The materials on your shopping lists, the allowances you chose, and the store you plan to buy from.
• Your ZIP code, only if you choose to add one.
• A profile picture, only if you choose to add one. It is visible only to you, and is deleted when you remove it or delete your account.

We use this data only to provide the app's features to you. Account data is stored by our hosting provider, Supabase, which processes it on our behalf. Each account can access only its own data.

Statistics (optional, off by default)

If you turn on "Include my rooms in statistics", the measurements of rooms you scan are combined with those from other homes to produce figures such as typical room sizes by room type and region. These figures never include your name, email or room names, use only the first three digits of a ZIP code, and are only produced for groups of at least 10 homes. Turning the setting off removes your rooms from future figures.

Ask Roomwise (AI search)

When you use Ask Roomwise, what you type is sent to our server together with the list of products available to you and, if you're shopping for a room, that room's measurements and shopping list. Our server sends this to our AI provider, Anthropic, to find matching products. It doesn't include your name, email or location. Anthropic processes it on our behalf and doesn't use it to train its models. Don't type personal information into the search.

To keep the service fair and affordable, we count searches per day. We store a one-way hash of your account id (if you're signed in), a random id created for this app on your device, and your network address, and delete these counts after two days.

Store links and prices

Roomwise downloads current product prices so it can compare stores; this doesn't send any information about you.

When you tap a "Shop at" link, the store's website opens and its own privacy policy applies. Some links are affiliate links: the store, or an affiliate network working for it, may set a cookie to record that you came from Roomwise, so that Roomwise can earn a commission if you buy. We receive reports about the resulting sales, such as order totals, but not your name, address or payment details.

Store accounts

Stores that list products through the Roomwise store portal (roomwiseapp.com/portal) create an account with an email address and password. The store details and products they enter, including the store's name, phone, address, areas served and product photos, are shown publicly in Roomwise once the store is approved. Store owners can edit or delete them at any time in the portal.

When a store uses “Scan price tags”, its photos are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to read the products and prices in them, and are not stored by Roomwise. Only the products the owner chooses to add are saved. We count scans per day per store to keep the service affordable.

When a store uses “Import from website”, our AI provider, Anthropic, reads a few public pages of the website address the store enters to draft its details and products. Only what the owner chooses to add is saved.

When a store links a price list for automatic syncing, Roomwise downloads that file every night to update the store's prices and stock. The link is visible only to the store and Roomwise staff.

What we don't do

• We don't show ads or include advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
• We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
• We don't sell or share your personal information for advertising.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep account data while your account exists. When you delete a room, its contents are removed from our servers; a blank record that the room was deleted is kept so your other devices remove it too. When you delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account), your account and everything stored with it are deleted from our servers. This includes accounts created with Apple, Google or Facebook; you can also remove Roomwise's access in that service's settings. If you can't open the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll delete it within 30 days. Rooms on your phone stay there until you delete them or the app.

Your choices and rights

You can view and change your rooms in the app, turn statistics on or off, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your data or ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Roomwise is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what is stored in your account, the app will ask for your agreement again before uploading anything new.
